Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. Welcomes Gene Sawyer, PLS, WRS

Poggemeyer Design Group, Inc. (PDG) is pleased to announce the addition of Gene Sawyer, PLS/WRS to our Las Vegas, Nevada office. Gene began his surveying career with Nevada Department of Transportation in January of 1993 and joined the Survey Division of Clark County Public Works Department in 1997. Gene began his career as an entry level Survey Technician and rose through the ranks until his appointment to Deputy Clark County Surveyor in 2008. He retired from Clark County in July of 2019 with nearly 27 years of surveying experience.

As Deputy County Surveyor in charge of field operations, Gene was responsible for the field surveying aspects of the division, as well as proposals, negotiations and management of consultant surveying contracts in the “Surveying - Construction Staking Minor” and “Land Surveying (Boundary/Topo/Alignment)” categories of the SOQ list.

Gene has worked on and managed some of Southern Nevada’s premier surveying projects throughout his career including; I-15 south of Valley of Fire, Desert Inn Super Arterial, Missouri Street Re-Alignment, Tropicana - Decatur Detention Basin/Frias Park, Las Vegas Boulevard, and Laughlin Regional Heritage Greenway Trail System.

Gene is currently the President of the Nevada Association of Land Surveyors - Southern Nevada Chapter. He and his wife recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary and are the proud parents of four daughters; two currently enrolled in Clark County School District, and two of whom are recent college graduates.

Originally from Minnesota, Gene has called Nevada home for the last 35 years. During football season you will find him and his wife cheering for the Vikings! He enjoys the outdoors and often travels to Minnesota, Canada, Alasksa, Northern Nevada and Southern Utah to camp, fish, and hike.
