Clean Ohio Trails Fund (COTF)

Local governments, park and joint recreation districts, conservancy districts, soil and water conservation districts, and non-profit organizations are eligible.
The Clean Ohio Trails Fund works to improve outdoor recreational opportunities for Ohioans by funding trails for outdoor pursuits of all kinds.
Up to 75 percent matching State of Ohio funds are reimbursed under Clean Ohio Trails Fund.
All projects must be completed within 15 months from the date that they are signed into contract.
Eligible projects include: Land acquisition for a trail, trail development, trailhead facilities, engineering and design.

 
Cooperative Boating Facility Grant

The Cooperative Boating Facility Grant is a competitive, biennial grant program offering 100% reimbursement* to eligible political subdivisions (municipalities, townships, counties, joint recreational districts, park districts, conservancy districts), and state and federal agencies. Its goal is to improve or develop recreational boating access for motorized watercraft at public facilities. Up to $3,000,000 will be allocated to qualified projects in 2021. (This next time this grant will be offered is 2023.)
*Projects that charge a user fee are only eligible for up to 75% reimbursement for launch ramp projects and 50% reimbursement for marina projects.
Eligible projects include: Ramps, docks (courtesy, boarding, transient), necessary roads, lighting and restrooms at launch ramps and designated ramp parking areas.
Facilities using these grant funds must be operated and maintained for a minimum of 25 years.
All funded projects must be open and accessible to the recreational boating public.

Recreational Trails Program

Cities and villages, counties, townships, special districts, state and federal agencies, and nonprofit organizations are eligible.
Up to 80% matching federal funds is reimbursed.
Eligible projects include development of urban trail linkages, trail head and trailside facilities; maintenance of existing trails; restoration of trail areas damaged by usage; improving access for people with disabilities; acquisition of easements and property; development and construction of new trails; purchase and lease of recreational trail construction and maintenance equipment; environment and safety education programs related to trails.

Paddling Enhancement Grant

Coordinated by ODNR Division of Parks and Watercraft, the Paddling Enhancement Grant is a competitive annual grant program offering 100%* reimbursement to eligible political subdivisions (municipalities, townships, counties, joint recreational districts, park districts, conservancy districts), and state and federal agencies. Its goal is to improve or develop recreational boating access for hand-powered watercraft at public facilities. Up to $500,000 will be allocated to qualified projects with a cap of $75,000 for any single project. 
*Projects that charge a user fee are only eligible for up to 75% reimbursement for launch ramp projects and 50% reimbursement for marina projects. 
Facilities funded with PEG funds must be operated and maintained for a minimum of 10 years.
All funded projects must be open and accessible to the recreational boating public
Grant recipients who receive funds are considered to be “suppliers” of the State of Ohio.
Grant recipients need to visit the Ohio Shared Services Supplier Operations website to create or update their Supplier Information status, to fill out an IRS W-9, and to authorize direct deposit of grant funds.
